The history of axe throwing has many strands twisting through the centuries. Some are more significant than others, but all provide a fascinating insight into our unique sport. These features cover the different strands, from axes past to present, highlighting their unique place in axe throwing history.

Each feature deals with a particular piece of history in isolation, although obviously referencing other histories as they overlap. The intention is to create a comprehensive collection of axe throwing histories, which will be of interest to those involved in the sport as well as those looking on.

I have attempted to create interesting, readable features, but, at the same time, to apply an appropriate level of academic rigour to the research, using primary and secondary historical sources. These sources are referenced for the benefit of the readers who want to explore the subjects in more detail.

As with any history, there is obviously an inherent bias of the writer, but I have endeavoured to present the subjects as objectively as possible.

Submit your History Ideas

The From Axes Past features will cover the big organisations and events, but I am also keen to cover localised histories, for example local axe throwing clubs. If you have an idea for a subject, or would like to submit your own history, please contact: editor@theaxethrower.com
