“The Axe Inspector”. Why All The Mystery Of An Anonymous Reviewer?
A quick look a what goes into an axe throwing review conducted by the mysterious Axe Inspector
I thought the category “The Axe Inspector” sounded more interesting than “Reviews”, but otherwise it’s not meant to be taken too seriously. The review visits are all anonymous because I want to get the normal experience that every normal participant gets – and then pass that on to others. (I know there’s a whole “influencer” industry of people doing reviews for publicity, but I’m not into that.)
I try to make the reviews as objective as possible, but I try to highlight the positive points rather than be overly critical. I’m genuinely excited about all the great axe throwing opportunities out there and would like to encourage more people to enjoy them.
TheAxeThrower.com does not pay me to write reviews. I also don’t get any payment, discount or any other benefit from the axe throwing venue. The venues may work out I’m coming, but I don’t advertise it. I don’t try and get a freebie for a good review or anything trite like that. I book with my personal email and pay the standard price.
My visits usually include one or two other people (it’s always more fun to throw with others I think), and, other than I’ll write a review up later, we treat it as a social event, just like any other. I would visit axe throwing venues for the fun of it anyway. My companions will also vary in ability, which helps get a broader appreciation of what the venue provides.
Obviously, I’ve been throwing/coaching for years, so each review is obviously written from that view point. However, I do consider how well the venue would cater for beginners/first timers too. Personally, I could throw for hours at a single target trying to improve my throw, but I do understand that a lot of people are just looking for a fun night out throwing axes, and my reviews aim to reflect that.
I’ve been writing the reviews since 2022, and aim to visit at least a couple per month. Even at that rate, it would take many years to visit every location, so if a venue has not been reviewed it is no reflection on them. Equally, the venues for review are chosen at random (or if I happen to be in the area), so their inclusion doesn’t imply they are better, or worse, than any other.
I’m also based in the UK, so the reviews are inevitably UK-centric, but I will visit as many axe throwing venues in other countries as I can too.
Hopefully you now understand what The Axe Inspector reviews are all about. I have a long list of venues I intend to visit, but feel free to email axeinspector@theaxethrower.com to suggest any you think I should visit – I won’t reply I’m afraid, but you never know I might just drop by one day!
